Context Carryover Across Iterative Review Transitions
Status: Working Observation / Case Analysis — not a new protocol, benchmark, terminology replacement, or core theory update.
1. Purpose
This note documents a multi-turn review observation in which later review stages appeared to carry forward previously mediated outputs from earlier in the same conversation. The purpose is descriptive rather than theoretical: it records an observable workflow phenomenon, not a mechanism claim, and it is not a normative specification.
2. CIP/PAL Framing
This note uses the existing CIP/PAL model without modification:
A → (A + C) → A′ → B′
Where C remains defined as model-side or execution-structure mediation that transforms A into A′.
This note does not define cumulative-C, does not introduce C_total, C_n, or any new formula, and does not modify the fixed C definition or the canonical model. The relevant observation here is about effective conversational state and review-state transitions across turns, not about internal model mechanisms. Nothing in this note should be read as a claim that C numerically accumulates, that C is stored between turns, or that any specific internal memory mechanism is responsible for what was observed.
3. Case Context
A long review session was conducted around a YouTube video summary. The review intentionally expanded through multiple analytical stages over the course of the conversation:
1. Initial review of the summary (anchor)
2. Market validation
3. Comparison with existing industry roles
4. Interpretation as a new or recombined profession
5. Practical weekly workflow
6. Governance analysis
7. Long-term labor market evolution
8. Final integrated review
The resulting conversation provides an observable case of progressive review expansion, moving from a single-summary review to an eight-stage analytical sequence.
4. Observed Pattern
The initial review remained relatively stable as an analytical anchor across the session. Subsequent prompts progressively introduced additional analytical layers, including market information, enterprise job comparisons, organizational theory, operational workflow, governance, and long-term prediction. By the end of the sequence, the final review was substantially different in scope from the original summary, while still visibly preserving the initial analytical foundation.
This does not prove an internal mechanism. It shows only that previously mediated outputs may become part of the effective conversational state used in later review transitions — later prompts operate over a conversation that already contains mediated outputs, not over the original material alone.
5. Observed Phenomena
Anchor Persistence
The initial interpretation of the summary remained the semantic anchor across the entire review, even as the analysis expanded into unrelated domains (market data, governance, labor prediction).
Progressive Expansion
Later prompts expanded the analytical scope well beyond the original material, layer by layer, rather than through a single large jump in scope.
Qualification Convergence
Several initially broad claims became progressively more qualified after repeated review. For example, a broad high-income claim was progressively narrowed:

Structural Context Carryover
One response unexpectedly reused a comparison-table structure from a previous answer, even though the new question did not specifically call for that structure. This is described here as a practical example of context carryover, or possible context contamination in the sense used in context_contamination_and_controlled_reconvergence.md — not as evidence of intentional reasoning or of any specific internal storage mechanism.
Claim Reactivation
Some previously qualified claims later reappeared in stronger, less-qualified form. For example, the high-income claim reappeared later in the session after it had already been qualified earlier. This suggests that previously emphasized concepts may become reactivated during long review sequences, even after they have been qualified — an observation about output behavior, not a claim about why it happened internally.
Human Re-convergence
Human review repeatedly restored authority boundaries, governance framing, evaluation criteria, approval responsibility, and realistic organizational structure whenever the analysis drifted toward overstatement. This repeated correction functioned as a controlled re-convergence process across the session, similar in kind to the re-binding step described in context_contamination_and_controlled_reconvergence.md.
6. Boundary: Output Behavior, Not Internal Mechanism
This note is limited to observed output behavior. It does not identify or claim any internal model mechanism responsible for the observed carryover. In particular, it does not claim that C numerically accumulates, that C is stored between turns, or that any specific internal memory mechanism produced these effects.
A safer way to describe what was observed:
Previously mediated outputs may become part of the effective conversational state used in subsequent review transitions.
No new formula, lifecycle theory, or formal construct is introduced here. Terms like "Response Lifecycle," "Knowledge Lifecycle," or "Review Lifecycle" are not proposed as new CIP/PAL theories by this note.
7. Relationship to Existing Notes
This note complements, without modifying the conclusions of, several existing documents:

These are offered as practical design cautions drawn from a single observed case, not as a new protocol or a set of required steps.
9. Limits

- It does not introduce Response Lifecycle, Knowledge Lifecycle, or Review Lifecycle as CIP/PAL theories.

10. Summary
Iterative AI review workflows can exhibit persistent analytical anchors, progressive analytical expansion, structural carryover, claim reactivation, and human-guided controlled re-convergence. These observations may be useful when designing structured multi-stage review workflows under the existing CIP/PAL framework, but they should remain an observational case study rather than a normative specification.
