An Emerging Infrastructure Hypothesis for Cross-Session Identity Stabilization

Persistent reference availability as a cross-session stabilization condition.


What PAL Is

Modern AI platforms provide persistent layers — ChatGPT’s File Library, Claude Projects, Gemini context-caching — that are documented primarily as storage and reuse mechanisms.

PAL proposes that these layers may function not only as storage, but as stabilization infrastructure.

When structured anchor materials are registered in a persistent reference layer, the system may function as a cross-session stabilization condition — not merely as storage.

This is the core claim. PAL is not about saving files. PAL is about whether persistent availability of anchor materials changes how the model reconstructs identity across sessions.


The Observation

Session reset has been treated as practical identity loss.

Each new session requires re-injecting anchor materials from scratch. Without re-injection, identity drift resumes immediately.

Operational experience suggests this assumption may be incorrect under certain conditions.

When a validated UID and anchor image are registered in a persistent reference layer, the following was observed:

  • Repeated re-injection seemed less necessary
  • Anchor continuity appeared easier to maintain
  • Session-to-session reconstruction appeared more stable

This is the observation PAL is built on.


The Hypothesis

PAL proposes that persistent anchor availability functions as an inference-time stabilization condition:

  • Identity recall becomes more reliable across sessions
  • Reconstruction converges more consistently toward the anchor
  • Session reset no longer implies complete practical identity loss

PAL does not imply model modification. It describes an external infrastructure condition that may influence reconstruction behavior by keeping anchor materials continuously available at inference time.

PAL is not a training intervention. It is a persistence condition.


Relation to CIP

PAL does not replace HDLA or ARCM. It describes the infrastructure within which those mechanisms may remain operational across sessions.

Operational use of PAL has produced an observed condition: Anchor-Sufficient Convergence (ASC).

Under ASC, character identity is maintained using only:
